Back in November, just after I returned home from visiting Heather and baby Jack, along with Camille & Ashley, I was struck with the idea of all us girls getting together---soon. We love our times together in the summer, but we also have 20+ kids to take care of. We don't get too many moments just to be together as adults. I sent out an email letting everyone know that they were invited to my place over President's Weekend and that it wasn't too late to ask Santa for a plane ticket. Well, Dad read the email and became Santa himself! He wanted it to happen. So, thanks to Mom and Dad for flying everyone to Virginia.
It was such a great weekend and I really feel like we packed a lot of fun stuff in. We had some good bonding, yummy food, and lots of shopping.
My sisters are quite extraordinary, and that definitely includes my sister-in-lawa, Hillary and my mom!
Thanks to Hillary and Mom for sending some of these pics!
Day 1:
We took the metro into DC. The weather was AMAZING. It was so fun to be downtown. We went to the National Gallery of Art and the American History Museum.
Olivia had to get a picture of this. Remember in the Olivia book series how she saw this in the museum and said "I could do that in about 5 minutes!" hee hee....
This is one of the main exhibits we came to see. Ashley was familiar with this artist's work and was dying to see it in person. The artist's name is Chuch Close and he does these large portraits with thumb prints! Isn't that incredible?
The trip is not complete with a ride on the carousel!

Thank you for being on top of things and posting all of those! I am so glad that you guys got all those pics of our trip because I sure didn't get too many. What a great time we had, looking back already (even though it's only been a few days) makes me wish I just could have one more day...isn't that always the case?! I hope we can make this tradition, and how I love all my sisters.

Jennifer, You are so on the ball! As I think back (and look at the pictures), that really was a dream weekend with all of my wonderful, beautiful girls! There really is nothing I would do differently! Thank you for getting the whole idea started and then for everyone making the sacrifice to leave their husbands and children, AND for your hospitality with all of us staying at your home! We felt so welcome and loved being together in your beautifully decorated, but totally comfortable, home. P.S. The grandkids with us were definitely a bonus!!!
Love it Jen! You are on top of things... and I'm sure you're probably still trying to clean up the mess we left behind! Thank you so much for your hospitality and making us all feel cozy and welcomed. Your house is so much fun to be in and you are awesome as a hostess. Thanks a million for such a fun trip... can't wait to do it again! P.S. I'm using your blog link as well because you did such a fabulous job. Why should I even attempt to recreate? :)
What a fabulous time together as sisters!!. Your mother is rich indeed to have all you wonderful girls together to love and enjoy. Tell you dad he is really unselfish to allow you to enjoy these special moments and he didn't even get to be there.
You're awesome, Jen. The best. Thanks for making this whole idea come to life. I think it's one of the best traditions you could have started! Sorry that I brought the whole Motley Crew, but thanks for making us all feel so at home. I love you and your family and our big family so much.
What a fabulous idea that became a reality! How about planning a girl cousin getaway and asking Santa Doug to pay for that one too. You all look beautiful as always.....none of you age at all! Teach me your secrets!! Love you Jen!
WOW. That is a lot of pictures! You are amazing! Looks like such a great time for you all, I wish I had sisters! You are so lucky to have your height, gorgeous!
